Colleen M. Henes joined Huck Bouma, PC in 2016.  Colleen counsels high net worth families in various trust, estate planning, and administration matters with a focus on estate and income tax implications.

Prior to coming on board at Huck Bouma, Colleen worked at a boutique accounting/law firm in the northern suburbs for over seven years where she provided tax preparation, estate administration, and, more recently, investment management services to her clients.  Her main focus was collaborating with family members after a loved one passed away.  She worked with them one-on-one from the first meeting, through the entire administration, until the final tax return.  She is gratified by the fact that although some of the administrations have ended, she has maintained relationships with many of her clients through tax preparation, wealth management, and trusteeship.

Colleen attended University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where she graduated as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. After working in the legal department at McDonald’s Corporation for a year, she decided to attend law school.  Colleen graduated from DePaul University where she received her Juris Doctor.   Over the last decade, Colleen has worked in litigation and transactional matters, obtained her health and life insurance producer licenses, and passed the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination (Series 65).  Colleen attends training sessions and seminars all over the United States, not only to become more educated in her fields, but to reach out to other attendees to learn from their best practices.  Throughout the years, Colleen has committed herself to continued learning so that she can provide thorough, well-rounded guidance to her clients for all their tax, investment, and estate planning needs.
Colleen’s principal objective is to work with families and maintain strong
multi-generational rapport.  She wants to build lifelong relationships with her
clients and their children and beneficiaries by continuing to be their trusted
adviser as their attorney, tax preparer, investment manager, and trustee.
Colleen was born in Evergreen Park, raised in DuPage County, and currently
resides in Glen Ellyn with her daughter, Emma, and rescue pup, Ella. She
enjoys relaxing at her parents’ condo in Twin Lakes, WI and traveling with
her daughter.  She also loves catching baseball games and hopes to watch
a game in each park. Go Cubs!
