Heinz Brisske and Cynthia Tolan were the featured speakers at the Estate Planning and Probate Committee meeting of the DuPage County Bar Association on June 10, 2014. Heinz spoke on the topic of Powers of Attorney, and also discussed the pending amendment to the Illinois Power of Attorney Act passed by the Illinois General Assembly on May 30, 2014. Heinz pointed out that the amendment completely changes the existing Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care form and the manner in which it is signed and interpreted. Cindy discussed POLST (Physicians’ Order for Life Sustaining Treatment), a relatively new program to Illinois and one that replaces the old DNR form. The program was attended by about 80 members of the DuPage County Bar Association and various members of the judiciary.
