Kathleen (Katie) May has recently been appointed to the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. The Wheaton Chamber is dedicated to the success of the business community through leadership, education and service. Additionally, Katie was elected to the Illinois Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) Board of Directors. NAELA is a professional association of attorneys dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to seniors and people with special needs. Illinois  is one of the 26 states with an active state membership providing continuing legal education, conferences, grassroots legal advocacy, networking and newsletters to keep members abreast of the latest developments in Elder Law in their states. Katie has also volunteered to sit on the NAELA Young/New Attorneys Steering Committee to assist those entering the practice of Elder Law and new attorneys to be successful in their practices and bring quality, competent service to their clients.

Katie is the moderator of a program on Rules of Trust Administration in Illinois hosted by Lorman Education Services at the Holiday Inn, Chicago West-Itasca on June 5, 2014. She is also on the faculty for the course, speaking on the topic of Unique Issues of Administering a Special Needs Trust. Lorman’s program is aimed at attorneys, accountants, CPAs, trust administrators, trust officers, bankers, financial planners, insurance professionals, tax managers, and presidents, vice presidents, CFOs and controllers of companies.
