Mr. Ramon Rodriguez chosen to represent the 65th Infantry Regiment to witness President Obama’s signing of H.R. 1776

Huck Bouma is honored to share the exciting news that Mr. Ramon Rodriguez, father of our Legal Assistant, Jeannette Berg, was recently chosen to represent the 65th Infantry Regiment to witness President Obama’s signing of H.R. 1776. That piece of legislation grants the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest recognition that Congress can bestow on a group for outstanding and enduring achievement, to the 65th Infantry Regiment for service during the Korean War. Mr. Rodriguez traveled to Washington D.C., where President Obama signed the bill in the South Court Auditorium of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The 65th Infantry Regiment was a unit composed primarily of soldiers from the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. The unit was known as the Borinqueneers.

Officials of the United States Mint will now meet with congressional sponsors and representatives to discuss the possible design of the medal.
